About Bear Valley

A small, family-run hill at the end of its own road in Tahoe City, and one of the few places on the lake where a beginner's first day doesn't cost a week's wages.

The Hill

1,900 vertical feet across 75 runs, served by 9 lifts, topping out at 8,500 feet. It is deliberately gentle terrain. People learn to ski and snowboard here, and plenty of Tahoe locals took their own first turns on this hill before graduating to the bigger resorts up the road.

What's on Site

Snow

The hill averages about 350 inches a season. Current conditions, including what fell in the last 24 hours and what's forecast for the week, are on the homepage.
